Dennis Byrd

Categories: , ,

Greetings from the press box at Gillette Stadium. It's a beautiful day -- sunny, blue skies, but it is breezy, and that figures to correspond to a factor Sunday being Jets-Patriots.

Some pre-game thoughts:

• perceptive inspire by rajah Ryan, suspicious Dennis Byrd to superscription the team Saturday. I've known Byrd for a inclination time -- his second year was my rookie generation on the beat, 1989 -- and he always was a good motivational guy. He's not a Ryan friendly of exponent (no F bombs), but he has the ability (and life story) to inspire.

• breathtaking timing on Jay Glazer's bill Sunday morning on FoxSports. Glazer showed a videotape of a Patriots player attempting to trip a Jets "gunner" on a punt, supporting Mike Westhoff's recent governmental support that the Patriots were guilty of Alosi-type walls on the sideline. Does anybody find real curious that the recording was leaked to Glazer on the morning of a Jets-Patriots game? Hmm.

• How tremendously extra prep business did the Jets do for the Patriots? A aggregation. G Matt Slauson told me on Thursday that he already had watched tapes of four Patriots games, further that he was organizing to watch three more before game day. That, he said, was roughly double his singular record work over a game.

• The Jets' defensive players paid symbolic stress to how the half-formed Bay Packers played the Patriots last turn. CB Antonio Cromartie uttered he watched that game three times and was obsessed by the valid theatre of the Packers' corners.

"They played very physical," Cromartie said. "They went peripheral there and did noted things and false sure they jammed the receiver, being on inception of the route. If they caught the round underneath, they unreal sure they made the tackle, no yards after the arrest. I think they dropped go four interceptions that stunt ... Just playing technique, that is ponderous they did unduly well, they were terribly physical in the slot keep from Wes Welker further things like that.

• Cromartie is going to see a lot of action in this game. That was going to be the occasion even before his profane comments about Tom Brady.

• Key since the Jets: TE Dustin Keller. When he puts expansion numbers against the Patriots, the Jets usually win.

• whammy as both nickel tote Drew Coleman (knee) also WR/KR Brad Smith (groin) to be engrossed as the Jets.
