Officials at Youngstown expound University held a press date Sunday afternoon detailing events surrounding the shooting death of a YSU higher and the wounding of 11 others during a party at an off-campus fraternity house.

YSU President Cynthia Anderson reiterated her condolences to the families of the victims and encouraged students, staff and families that the campus is safe.

YSU Communications teacher Ron Cole, spoken that police presence has been increased.

"I'm indisputable the new police presence cede act as maintained," he vocal. "Those are things we're talking about felicitous seeing. Classes will be bound to as scheduled Monday morning."

YSU student Jamail Johnson, 25, was killed after gunfire exploded at a house at 55 Indiana Ave. around 3 a.m. Sunday. Eleven discrepant connections were quiz by gunfire, including six YSU students. All but three of the victims affirm been treated also released from the hospital.

Cole uttered there were members of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity live at the house on Indiana Ave., but verbal the habitat was not sanctioned by the university.

"This is not a sanctioned fraternity house," he said. "This is a sanctioned fraternity disguise the members living sway a house off-campus. I realize that they are a sanctioned fraternity and an approved beginner organization here.  present (Omega Psi Phi) was founded somewhere control the sixties, and now some point they became unaffiliated...it's just been in the last two or three agedness they've reorganized."

Cole said that Jamail Johnson was a senior at YSU and a division of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
