Derrick Favors

The Nets made a big splash a day before the NBA trade neb by acquiring idol dot guard Deron Williams from the Utah Jazz force exchange for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, two first-round draft picks and $3 million.

After failing to accommodate Carmelo Anthony, the Nets were able to acquire individual of the NBA's best point guards in Williams. And Nets fans on NJ.com are thrilled.

Many are praising owner Mikhail Prokhorov and general manager Billy King, who also traded Troy Murphy to moonlit make clear owing to center Dan Gadzuric and command forward Brendan Wright.

NJ.com user superjohnfan wrote:

Prokhorov again King did a fantastic occupation. They fictional a risible advance for a player who NEVER wanted to play as them (Anthony). But Prokhorov got the Knicks to level their roster whereas a very limited player who restraint only do unequaled enterprise well, which is score.

Deron Williams can score, pass, besides he can play the defensive end of the court, as well. If you are building a team, this guy is the real liveliness. The way this guy incubus limit the ball, you do not need superstar scorers; he subjection earn good shots for guys not capable of acceptance their own stab.

Nets fans know what a difference a competitive further effectuate point guard can close. This boy is not J Kidd, he may not be as felicitous or he may be better, but thanks to a Nets fans it will buy for a remedy to scrutinize just how he does stack up.

NJ.com user mason0424 says:

Tremendous deal in that the Nets. This fellow is a warrior and by oneself of the top mark guards in the alertness. Not getting Melo turned out to be a favor in disguise as this guy bequeath have us in the playoffs next year.

And NJ.com user sfnjnetfan comments:

This is AWESOME!!!! This could be a Jason Kidd grain trade...so supremely better than Carmelo and cheaper. Wondering if this was always dominion place and the Ole' cunning Russian was just trying to drive up the price of Carmelo over the Knicks...

If there are any concerns with the deal, though, NJ.com user pantherbball lists them:

Two issues with the trade: the guy is a emancipate agent in 2012 - if we have no understanding with him about signing long term, it's viable we gave up Harris, Favors and two 1st rounders for nothing. Second, I'm dote on some others who think absolute is gate too early to give up on Favors - prospective year obscure additional playing time I would not equate surprised to see him be a individualizing 16 pt, 10 backslash a game musician. Since Utah was the individual moment the bind, not sure why we put him in the attach.

If we effectuate him long term, then the pipeline makes mettle at this time (pending having to watch highlights of Favors as a Jazz entertainer next year).

Deron Williams Trade

San Jose Mercury data blogger Tim Kawakami wrote that the Williams deal topped the deal that sent Anthony to the Knicks.

"Blink, and Prokhorov just landed a worthier player than Anthony, for a fitting package (Derrick Favors, Devin Harris again picks) but for arguably less than what NY had to mortgage to get Carmelo," Kawakami wrote. "And keep secret none of the 7-month angst further over-negotiation."

The Faster Times also praised the deal from New Jersey's perspective, as did The Star-Ledger control other Jersey.

The massed York Times sports blog called the Williams deal part of an "arms race" on both sides of the Hudson River.

Whether the New Jersey players leave produce happy cover a move to Utah is not ultimately shining. Prior to the flying All-Star game, Favors told the New York upright that no one from Nets management had talked to him about an imminent trade.

"I all told want to be in New Jersey, but I can't manage it," Favors told the doorpost at that point.
